Since 2012, Richard S. Davis has practiced in creditor rights, representing bankruptcy trustees, and creditors in post-judgment proceedings in federal district trial courts, bankruptcy courts, and California state court. Since 2015, Mr. Davis has been representing businesses in California’s commercial cannabis industry, including representation of a court appointed receiver in one of the first cannabis business receivership cases in California.
Representative Matters:
· Representation of individual and institutional creditors in the enforcement of multi-million dollar judgments, creating liens, obtaining assignment orders, charging orders, orders appointing receivers, break-in orders, and levying on personal and real property.
· Representation of bankruptcy trustees in fraudulent transfer actions.
· Representation of council member in quo warranto action.
· Representation of court appointed receiver appointed to manage, control and operate a cannabis dispensary, which ultimately included a sale of the business assets.
· Representation of cannabis companies in multi-million-dollar litigation matters, and government regulatory licensing matters.
Mr. Davis completed his undergraduate degree in 2002, graduating from the University of Utah (B.A., majoring in History). Upon graduation, he worked for an investment company and obtained several securities licenses. Mr. Davis earned his Juris Doctorate degree from California Western School of Law in 2008 and was admitted to the California State Bar that same year.
